Pivot Tables
|
A pivot table is a data summarization tool found in data visualization programs
such as spreadsheets. Among other functions, they can automatically sort, count,
and total the data stored in one table or spreadsheet and create a second table
displaying the summarized data. Pivot tables are also useful for quickly creating
cross tabs. The user sets up and changes the summary's structure by dragging and
dropping fields graphically.

Solver Function
|
The Solver in Calc is a tool that helps you to calculate the conditions which maximize
profit and minimize cost while satisfying some constraints. It is used to solve
product mix problems, transportation models, EOQ Models. Profit- loss analysis.

Goal Seek Function
• Goal Seek is part of a suite of commands sometimes called what-if analysis. •
Goal Seek uses a process of changing the values in cells to see how those changes
affect the outcome of formulas on the worksheet.
• The command use iteration in a controlled way to obtain desired results.
• You can use Goal Seek when you know the desired result of a single formula but
not the input value the formula needs to determine the result.
• Production, Purchasing, Scheduling & Distribution, Financial goal setting etc

Data Analysis and Data Validation
|
Data analysis is a process of gathering, modeling, and transforming data with the
goal of highlighting useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting
decision making. Data analysis has multiple facets and approaches, encompassing
diverse techniques under a variety of names, in different business, science, and
social science domains

Statistical Analysis
|
Statistical Analysis and Data Mining addresses the broad area of data analysis,
including data mining algorithms, statistical approaches, and practical applications.
Topics include problems involving massive and complex datasets, solutions utilizing
innovative data mining algorithms and/or novel statistical approaches, and the objective
evaluation of analyses and solutions.

Control Charts
|
All processes have some form of variation. A Control Chart helps you distinguish
between normal and unusual variation in a process. If you want to reduce the amount
of variation in a process, you need to compare the results of the process with a
standard

Value Stream Mapping
|
Value stream mapping is a Lean technique used to analyze the flow of materials and
information currently required to bring a product or service to a consumer. Value
stream mapping is commonly used in Lean environments to identify opportunities for
improvement in lead time.

SIPOC
|
SIPOC is a high-level picture of the process that depicts how the given process
is servicing the customer. It is an acronym for Suppliers - Inputs - Process - Outputs
– Customers. SIPOC can be seen as a high-level process map. It is typically used
during the define phase of a process improvement project, as it helps us clearly
understand the purpose and the scope of a process. It is a starting point in identifying
the voice of the customer (VOC)

FMEA
|
A failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) is a procedure for analysis of potential
failure modes within a system for classification by severity or determination of
the effect of failures on the system. It is widely used in manufacturing industries
in various phases of the product life cycle and is now increasingly finding use
in the service industry. Failure modes are any errors or defects in a process, design,
or item, especially those that affect the customer, and can be potential or actual.
Effects analysis refers to studying the consequences of those failures

Pareto Charts
|
A Pareto chart, also called a Pareto distribution diagram, is a vertical bar graph
in which values are plotted in decreasing order of relative frequency from left
to right. Pareto charts are extremely useful for analyzing what problems need attention
first because the taller bars on the chart, which represent frequency, clearly illustrate
which variables have the greatest cumulative effect on a given system

House of Quality
|
House of Quality is a graphic tool for defining the relationship between customer
desires and the firm/product capabilities. It is a part of the Quality Function
Deployment (QFD) and it utilizes a planning matrix to relate what the customer wants
to how a firm (that produce the products) is going to meet those wants. It looks
like a House with correlation matrix as its roof, customer wants versus product
features as the main part, competitor evaluation as the porch etc. It is based on
"the belief that products should be designed to reflect customers' desires and tastes"
